High Resolution Infrared Solar Spectra from Mauna Loa Observatory

Abstract

Mauna Loa Observatory (MLO) (19.35°N, 155.58°W, altitude 3.4km), on the big island of Hawaii, is a primary site of the Network for Detection of Stratospheric Change (NDSC). Since November, 1991, a high resolution Fourier transform spectrometer system has been operating on a limited basis collecting spectra in the mid infrared from 750 to 1250 cm-1 (8 to 13 µm) and 2400 to 3050 cm-1 (3.3 to 4.2µm) one sunrise per week. Total column amounts of HC1, HNO3, O3 and N2O are currently processed routinely.
