IR Laser Stand-Off Detection

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A field experimental program utilizing the SRI developed laser stand-off detection systems was completed during the summer of 1984 at Dugway Proving Ground, UT. The systems were exercised against dimethylmethylphosphonate (DMMP) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) vapors. Both atmospheric backscatter and topographical reflectors were used. Also, surface contamination with silicone oil (SF-96) was viewed on both natural and artificial surfaces. SRI provided two systems: one ground based (van mounted); the other aircraft mounted. Data analysis, currently in a very preliminary stage, will be presented.
