Abstract
Infrared (IR) transmitting windows and domes require antireflection (AR) coatings to reduce fresnel losses. The need for AR coatings effective at higher angles of incidence is more pronounced in the infrared than in the visible. This is due to the higher index of infrared substrate materials. A comprehensive review on AR coatings for IR materials has been written by Savage but examines broadband normal incidence coatings only1. The goal was to design improved antireflection coatings with particular attention to high angles of incidence, and without the use of radioactive materials.
