Abstract

The motivation for this work are observations at LLNL and the rest of the laser damage community of a correlation between increasing laser damage thresholds with decreasing defect density (ρ) on the coatings. Using data generated at LLNL, the laser damage thresholds increased from 10 to 100 J/cm2 as the ρ decreased from >100 to 1 per cm2, plotted on a log-log scale.
