Abstract
Optoelectronics is widely seen as a dominant technology of the 21st Century. Optical Interference Coatings play an important role in many optoelectronic devices and systems. The next generations of optoelectronics will place considerable extra demands on the performance of optical interference coatings to ensure successful operation. This lecture will examine these new demands in detail, focusing on practical fabrication and testing problems, but also addressing the theoretical basis of coatings as their size and wavelengths of operation become ever smaller.
