Abstract

The term production optics is a rather broad one and there are probably as many definitions of it as there are people in this meeting. From my own experience I have found that for some manufacturers production levels of more than 10 pieces a day are considered high volume, whereas some production levels of 10 pieces per day are decidedly low volume. The distinction between high and low volume depends upon the particulars of any fabrication job: the materials, the technology involved, the accuracy and tooling requirements, the capabilities of the workforce, and cost limitations.
