Abstract

The manufacture of a large diffraction-limited aspheric primary mirror encompasses several state-of-the-art processes. These include computer controlled polishing and interferometric test and evaluation. To advance manufacturing processes to the levels required for today's telescope systems and to meet future needs, full-aperture and sub-aperture interferometric test configurations have been developed in conjunction with a precision interferogram analysis facility.
