Abstract

Eastman Kodak Company, under subcontract to Perkin-Elmer Corporation, is polishing the 97.5-inch mirror shown in Figure 1 for the Optical Telescope Assembly being built by Perkin-Elmer under contract to NASA. Specifications for the mirror are listed in Table 1. Discussion of this fabrication will include a quick summary of the overall process, as well as a detailed discussion of the aspheric grinding and measurement. In addition, an interferogram summary of the polishing, including the most recent test prior to the OSA Workshop, is presented.
