Distributed Detection of Cable Joint Insulation Defects using Dual-Frequency Heterodyne Coherent φ-OTDR

Abstract

A φ-OTDR system adopting dual-frequency heterodyne coherent detection scheme was presented to sense partial discharge acoustic emission signals in power cable joints. Partial discharges with a magnitude of 127 pC was detected within 20 km.
