Abstract
Hydrogen is expected to play a significant role in the energy transition. Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser is a promising key technology and can be used in different applications. One of the important parameters related to the PEM efficiency is the temperature distribution. The usage of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor array to measure temperature at different locations and flow channels close to the membrane is successfully demonstrated. The application of bend-insensitive fiber enables the routing of a single fiber into the different flow channels. The temperature measured by the FBGs in the flow channels is compared to conventional electrical temperature sensor attached to the PEM housing. While the effect of changes in the cell voltage is clearly detected by the FBGs inside the PEM.
