Abstract

We theoretically analyze and experimentally investigate the all-optical modulation characteristics of microfiber Sagnac loop (MSL). The spectrum filter property and output intensity of MSL can be modulated by the thermo-optical effect. By injecting pump lights with different intensity, the all-optical modulation to the spectrum filter property can be achieved and the rate of wavelength shift is 1pm/mW. The research result provides a promising prospect for the development of all-optical, wide bandwidth and tunable filter based on MSL and a good basis to develop a compact, tunable ultrashort cavity fiber laser.
