Amplitude-Based BOTDR Sensing at Cryogenic Temperatures using Polyimide Coated Fibers

Abstract

The Brillouin characteristics of two polyimide fibers have been measured down to liquid nitrogen temperature. An amplitude-based temperature measurement using spontaneous Brillouin scattering is demonstrated for a wide range of cryogenic temperatures.
