Digital Subcarrier Multiplexing in Optically Routed Networks

Abstract

We examine the benefit of digital subcarrier multiplexing in optically routed networks. We show that optimizing the number of subcarriers not only improves system tolerance to nonlinearities, but also induces smaller performance variations in various network scenarios.
