Unified Direct and Coherent Detection Real-Time OFDM Scheme for Optical Access Networks

Abstract

We demonstrate a novel unified real-time direct and coherent orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme for access networks. Such an approach provides scalability, flexibility, and higher efficiency since detection schemes can be readily interchanged.
