Reduction of Nonlinear Distortion in Optical Parametric Sampling Using Backward Raman Amplification

Abstract

Using Raman amplification together with reduced input signal power, we obtain 16 dB reduction in nonlinear distortion that originates from pump depletion in optical parametric sampling. The sampling performances are compared under different operating conditions.
