Ultrafast sampling of complex polarization components for characterizing polarization mode dispersion

Abstract

We demonstrate the ultrafast observation of the complex polarization components by using a multi-channel linear optical sampling technique. Simultaneous characterization of the temporal waveform and the PMD provides a unique feature for diagnosing high-speed channels.
