Abstract

In wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical networks where wavelength channels are added and dropped dynamically, the gain control of Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) still remains an important technical problem, because the change in the input condition of EDFAs leads to the variation of both the gain level and the shape of the gain spectrum [1].
