Abstract

With hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) networks finding widespread application in the delivery of AM-VSB video, recent efforts have focused on expanding their capabilities to include an array of narrowband and broadband digital services.1-3 However, advanced HFC designs must address critical limitations and tradeoffs that can strongly affect network capacity. This paper highlights recent progress in HFC implementation, and identifies some of the remaining technical challenges.
