Abstract

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy has been widely used in material science because of its high sensitivity (Fellget advantage) and wavenumber accuracy (Connes advantage). But measurement of an optical fiber's spectral attenuation by a Fourier transform spectrometer (FTS) has no practical application because of its shorter wavelength and small intensity of the measured light. We have improved the FTS and developed a new apparatus for measuring an optical fiber's spectral attenuation. Here we present the system configuration and its performance.
