Abstract
Intense interest has been generated by the possibility of transmitting multiple AM-VSB NTSC signals over optical fiber. However, noise and distortion levels have not been consistent with objectives for signal quality in the CATV trunking application.1 In addition, lasers have usually been selected from a population intended for digital applications. Here we report on experiments using 1.3-μm DFB laser modules where rigorous requirements for signal quality have been satisfied. In addition, we discuss data from >100 devices which were specifically processed for analog applications.
