Abstract

Fiber-optic spectral filters1 are expected to play an important role in light amplification by using the Raman effect2 and in wavelength division multiplexed communication systems. One major advantage of single-mode fiber devices over bulk- optic and planar waveguide devices is the simplification of assembly and the low-loss light coupling with the signal transmission line.
