Abstract

New optical bit rate multiplier has been demonstrated using optical loop reflectors and fiber delay lines. By using a gain switched laser diode (LD), the optical short pulse, 40 ps pulse width (FWHM), is obtained, and feasibility experiments of a bit rate conversion of 1.2 Gb/s to 16.6 Gb/s have been successfully conducted.
