Abstract

The number of optical fiber jonting will increase as the fibers are extended closer to the home. This paper describes the new resuable ribbon(8 fibers) and single fiber splices for cost effective fiber jointing in the subscriber loop. The mean splice loss is 0.1 dB and 0.14dB for ribbon and single fiber, respectively. The performances of mechanical and environment tests will be also presented.
