Abstract
From the viewpoint of super high density recording in optical storage, near field recording (NFR) by using a solid immersion lens (SIL) is getting payed attention. The SIL is a hemi- or super-hemi-spherical lens which is located very close to the recording surface. In other words, the gap or distance between the SIL surface and the recording surface should be so small that the evanescent wave from the SIL surface could reach to the recording surface. There are a few primitive reports about SIL readouting of optical ROM memories[1], [2], [3]. In this report, we will analyze the SIL readout signal from optical ROM, by using the vector diffraction theory. We will report the gap height sensitivity of the readout signal and the polarization dependence of the readout signal.
