Abstract

Volume holographic storage in photorefractive crystals has been the subject of intensive research over the past decade under government and industry sponsorship. Three-dimensional memories hold the promise of combining very large capacities (>1Tbyte) with very high data rates (>1Gbit/s) and very short access times (<1ms).
