Synchronization of mode-locked erbium-fiber lasers

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Synchronously pumped mode locked erbium fiber lasers are described. Pump-induced phase modulation rather than gain modulation is used to periodically perturb the fiber laser cavity and to produce the all-optical equivalent of FM mode locking.
