Abstract

In the design to first order of the Cassegrain and Ritchey-Chretien configurations of astronomical telescopes, an equation for the conic constants of both mirrors can be established following the work done by Malacara.1 It is shown that such an equation for the conic constants is also valid for the Dall-Kirkham setup and also for other configurations where the lineal equation must be satisfied.
