High-power diffraction-free beam generation

Abstract

Refractive systems have been designed that can convert a circular Gaussian beam into a Bessel beam. Such beams are expected to alleviate the problems of beam spreading when the energy of beam is being transferred to a target. High power laser beams are usually annular in shape. In this work an annular beam is converted into a Bessel beam by using a refractive system. The surface slope, radii of curvature, and other important parameters are optimized for ease of fabrication.
