A novel coupling technique for end pumping solid-state lasers using 1-cm linear-aperture high-power laser diode bars

Abstract

We present a simple and inexpensive optical system that can focus more than 80% of the output power of a laser diode bar with a 1 cm aperture into a spot smaller than 300µm in diameter for end pumping of solid-state lasers. The system uses off-the-shelf components and is particularly suitable for three- level laser systems.
