Laser-produced, plasma-pumped XUV molecular laser

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have used the energetic electrons created by a laser-produced, traveling-wave plasma to pump a molecular hydrogen Werner band laser at 116 nm. Using a 400 mJ, 300 ps, 1064 nm pulse with a repetition rate of 2 Hz, we measure a gain coefficient of 1.0 cm-1 and an extrapolated total small signal gain of exp (26); the laser output exhibits saturation.
