Abstract
We present a theoretical model that predicts the color of images in a color hologram recorded by three laser lights and replayed in white light. Effects of bandwidth and replay scatter noise are included in the model. The model is used to generate spectral power distributions, which are transformed into points on the 1976 Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) diagram. Eight color-display holograms were recorded1 at the following combinations of wavelengths: 458, 488 nm (blue), 514,529 nm (green), 633,647 nm (red). The object used was an array of Munsell color chips, including the eight recommended by the CIE.2 The holograms were reconstructed with a standard white-light source and were measured with a telespectrophotometer. Measured spectral power distributions of each Munsell-chip image were used to calculate points on the CIE diagram.
