Abstract
An interesting and powerful method of binarizing gray tone distributions is the error correction and diffusion method. Its basic idea is to distribute the local quantization error in a sequential procedure among pixels not yet processed. We have generalized this concept to phase structures. The complex amplitude is then corrected by diffusing complex valued errors.
