Abstract
Tunable diode laser heterodyne spectrophotometry (TDLHS) has been used to make extremely high-resolution (0.0005-cm−1) solar spectra in the 9.6-μm ozone band. Observations have shown that a SNR of 120:1 for an integration time of ⅛ s can be achieved at a resolution of 0.0016 wave numbers. The measured SNR at 0.0016-cm−1 resolution is ~30% of that theoretically obtain able. The spectral data have been inverted to yield a total column amount of ozone of 311-m-atm-cm compared to a value of 355-m-atm-cm obtained at the nearby National Oceanographic & Atmospheric Administration ozone monitoring facility in Boulder, CO. Line positions are reported for several ozone lines in the 996-997-cm−1 spectral region.
