Novel behavior of a synchronously pumped femtosecond antiresonant ring dye laser

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

A modified version of an antiresonant ring dye laser, which includes a dispersion compensating a four-prism sequence and longer (10-cm radius) focusing optics at the gain medium (rhodamine 6G), has a complex pulse width dependence on the dye laser cavity length. The dye laser, which is synchronously pumped by the second harmonic of a cw mode-locked Nd:YAG laser, yields short (<150-fs FWHM) pulses at two distinct cavity lengths.
