Abstract

Nonlinear etalons can perform logic operations. In particular, two-wavelength NOR-gate operation and one-wavelength bistable, transistor, and limiting operations have been demonstrated.1 Most experiments have involved a single optical spot on the nonlinear etalon, but experiments have been performed on small (≃3 × 3) arrays on GaAs etalons and ZnS and ZnSe interference filters.2 The present status of my group’s research on single-spot and multiple-spot operation of these devices is summarized.
