Abstract

A giant enhancement of upconversion luminescence (UCPL) from an all-dielectric metasurface supporting bound states in the continuum (BICs) engineered with lanthanide-doped nanocrystals is herein demonstrated. The strong-coupling mechanism occurring at the edge of the photonic superstructure leads to an UCPL radiance enhancement of ~108.
