Abstract

It has been proposed the use of Raman gain and cross-phase modulation in order to amplify and simultaneously compress an weak signal pulse by copropagating it in the anomalous dispersion region of an optical fiber with an intense pump pulse in the normal dispersion region [1]. In this work we show for the first time experimental results of this technique, supported by numerical simulations.
