Abstract

This paper reviews carriers’ requirements for 100G based DWDM systems, and indicates some of the key functions needed by coherent Digital Signal Processors (DSPs). A proof-of-concept DSP is fabricated and subjected to a technical feasibility study of its functions and real-time performance. This reasonably power efficient device will advance the maturity of 100G coherent DWDM systems.
