Abstract

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of irreversible visual loss in the elderly (1). The loss of vision is due, in 90 % of cases, to "exudative" sequelae: retinal pigment epithelial detachments (PED) and subretinal choroidal neovascular membranes (SRN) (2).
