Abstract
The need for early vision screening is widely acknowledged in the prevention of amblyopia. Paraxial photorefraction can be easily and rapidly used to assess accommodation and convergence in young infants. We have tested 818 infants aged between 15 days and 36 months, using paraxial photorefraction. The procedure was first described by Kaakinen (1979) and analyzed by Howland (1980; 1985) and Bobier and Braddick (1985). Our technique has the major advantage of being quick and totally non-invasive.
