Abstract
In addition to the pupil light reflex response (PLR), recent investigations have shown that systematic pupillary changes can be induced by changing certain stimulus attributes such as spatial structure and colour which are normally associated with central stages of visual processing1. For example, systematic pupillary responses have been demonstrated as a function of check size in experiments with checker-board patterns2,3, temporal modulation frequency with uniform fields4,5 and as a function of stimulus wavelength6 or the temporal exchange of monochromatic lights7,8.
