An Optimal Frequency Domain Textural Edge Detection Filter

Abstract

Edge detection in images is an important first step in extracting information from the image. Many edge detection schemes have been employed to enhance the boundaries between regions of different average gray tone. These tonal edge detectors are inadequate when regions in an image are characterized by textural features.
