New scheme for pumping solid-state lasers based on LED-pumped luminescent concentrators

Abstract

We report the first solid-state-laser pumped by a LED concentrator. This Ce:YAG concentrator emits up to 1 kW peak power with an irradiance reaching 7 kW/cm2 with optical efficiency of 25%, which is suitable to pump a Nd:YVO4 crystal.
