Prospects of ytterbium-doped, monoclinic magnesium tungstate crystal for optical vortex laser

Abstract

We first present an efficient multi-watt Yb:MgWO4 vortex laser. The robust first-order Laguerre-Gaussian doughnut beam with well-determined spiral phase-front trajectory was excited without using any specific intracavity spiral chirality selection components.
