Abstract
The steering of electron motion in molecules can be achieved by strong laser fields with controlled waveform. We have studied the waveform control of the dissociative ionization of diatomic molecules using few-cycle near-infrared and mid-infrared laser pulses. Many fundamental processes in nature are governed by multi-electron dynamics. As a prominent example of multi-electron dynamics, we have investigated the non-sequential double ionization of atomic and molecular targets in few-cycle laser fields employing coincidence spectroscopy. The results from our experiments are compared to calculations allowing insight into the underlying mechanisms.
