Lidar Visibility Measurements

Abstract

Linar measurements of visibility in heavy fogs have been performed for the last four years by the EERM lidar group. This paper reports some results of an experimental programme conducted to design a visibility measuring device for airports. The visual ranges are measured over horizontal and slants paths by applying to the lidar signal either the slope on the transmittance method, or both.
