Abstract

Beyond its primary interest for condensed-matter physics, the study of atomic Bose-Einstein Condensates (BEC) has become an inspiration for novel and challenging problems in quantum physics. The presence of nonlinearity in a system so closely related to quantum interference, has revived interest in a large family of breather excitations of the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation.
