Abstract

In the field of nonlinear optics “diffraction-free” Bessel beams show several interesting features due to specific excitation geometry of such conical beams The field distribution in a Bessel beam can thought of as a superposition of infinitely many plane waves all inclined by a constant angle toward the propagation axis. Thus, for a nonlinear process driven by a Bessel beam there is an infinite number of possible spatial combinations of interacting waves of the fundamental light cone In the present work, we demonstrate the possibility of controlling the nonlinear response of a medium in Bessel beams by spatial selection of particular combinations of interacting waves
