Abstract

In recent years, the optical properties of microcavities containing semiconductor quantum wells have been the subject of detailed investigations. In the strong coupling regime that appears when the coupling frequency between the exciton and the cavity exceeds the decay rates of the exciton and of the photons in the cavity, the eigenstates of the system, the polariton modes, yield a doublet in the reflection or transmission spectrum of the system.
