Abstract
We have built a compact grating-feedback laser diode system with microwave sidebands produced by a simple YIG tuned oscillator. When the microwave frequency matches at multiples of the free spectral range of extended laser cavity, as defined by the back facet of the laser diode and diffraction grating, we can observe dramatic enhancement of the sidebands at 2 - 3 GHz frequency depending on the laser injection current.
